Target Readership
All three of these magazines have a specific target audience and appeal to different people.
Vibe is a very popular Rap/hip-hop magazine.
The Vibe magazine (left) is read more by men than women. The magazine is read by 51% men, and 49%women. This means the magazine is manly for males.
18-24 = 24%
18-34 = 37%
21+ = 91%
35+ = 45%
Median Age = 34 years
The average age group for this Vibe magazine is 21+, this is because it appeals to them more. The mast-head is large and bold, it is also black and red, which is aggresive, this suits the target audience. You wouldn't group Children and Agression together, this is why Vibe has used this colour scheme. There is also a very iconic figure as the main image, Eminem. Eminem is asscociated with the young adults (16+) target audience. People of this age will instantly recognise him and want to read more into the magazine.
XXL is an american hip-hop/rap magazine.
The XXL is also targeted mostly towards males. 78% of readers are male, and 22% are female.

XXL speaks to the rap-music generation, mostly to 24+ year olds. The mast-head is also red, this suits the magazine perfectly because the genre Rap is quite aggresive, and red connotes anger. The main image is Tupac, one of the most famous hip-hop/rap artists in the world. People of his genereation will recognise him instantly and will be more likely to read the magazine.
KERRANG!
Kerrang! is the most popular rock magazine in the world. Kerrang! is targeted at the 49.8% of the ABC1 group. The average age range for the magazine is age 15-24, with most readers at the age of 22 years old.
The gender ratio is 41% female, and 59%

Kerrang! is in the rock genre, using words such as "emo, trash, punk, reckless, gothic, energetic". The mast-head very recognisable, this is why Kerrang! can cover a part of it and people will still acknowledge the magazine. The main image is a photo of a very popular rock band, Green Day. People will instantly know who they are band and this will attract people, espeacilly the target audience of 15-25.
